Our School

Burton Elementary School (BES) is located in the attractive village of Burton on the shores of the Arrow Lakes and the Columbia River. The school is ideally situated to use its surroundings to enhance our primary education program. Forests, creeks, valleys, mud flats, beaches and the river, provide the perfect environment in which students can expand their learning.  Sole access to the whole of the school and its grounds, plus the surrounding forest and beach being only five minutes away is perfect for our students to explore outside of the classroom. 

Our dedicated and caring staff is what makes our school a great place to be!  We focus on connecting with each child and ensuring learning is student-centered so each child can see learning growth and experience success.  Our team of teachers and support staff actively participate in professional development to deliver the best possible learning experience for our students. 

BES has seen tremendous growth over the past few years. The school currently has 3 classrooms, a meeting room, a mobile StrongStart room, an outdoor learning area, a large gym that is shared with the Burton Community Learning Centre(BCLC), as well as a beautifully constructed Library that is also shared with the BCLC. BES recently upgraded the playground outside for the students and children of the Burton community to enjoy. BES uses a solar panel system to support the energy efficiency of the building.
